Electric Dusk Drive-In (Los Angeles, CA)

"A Streetcar Named Desire"

Skip the big, cavernous movie theater complex for a night and head instead to Electric Dusk Drive-In for something a little different. Settle in on the astroturf amidst the downtown L.A. city lights and watch the classic 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire. Disturbed Blanche DuBois (Vivian Leigh) moves in with her sister (Kim Hunter) in New Orleans during a steamy 1940s summer and is tormented by her brutish brother-in-law (Marlon Brando) while her vision of reality crumbles around her. It’s a landmark drama of the culture clash between the Old South and the rising urban working class. Brando’s performance has been cited as one of the most influential in the history of American cinema, and the film won four Oscars. If you like to munch while enjoying your film fare, there’s a full snack bar featuring BBQ, candy, popcorn, candy and a large selection of beverages.
