Irvin Mayfield, the city’s official Cultural Ambassador, leads this swinging 18-piece ensemble in a Big Easy tribute, carrying out the traditions of New Orleans jazz, blues, swing and spirituals. Mayfield, a trumpet prodigy who rose to prominence as Wynton Marsalis’ protégé, takes the orchestra through big band arrangements, original compositions and the music of Duke Ellington in this special performance.
