The York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred at Lakeview Boulevard and Lake Drive South in the Town of Georgina.

On Saturday, November 13, 2010, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a 20-year-old Georgina man was operating a 1994 Honda Civic westbound on Lakeview Boulevard. For reasons that are still under investigation, the vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Lake Drive South. As a result, the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a hydro pole on the west side of Lake Drive South. 

The front seat passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year-old Georgina man, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and an 18-year-old female passenger, of Georgina, were also transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

CHARGED:
• Ryan BAILEY, 20, of Georgina

CHARGES:
• Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
• Dangerous Driving

Mr. BAILEY has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Friday, December 17, 2010.
