On Day 3 of the second test match, Kane Williamson and BJ Watling made a much needed sixth wicket partnership score of 94 to keep New Zealand in the match against Sri Lanka in Wellington on Monday.
By the close of day, Kiwis were 253 for 5 with a lead of 118 runs still having five wickets in hand, after an unbroken Williamson-Watling partnership recovered the innings from a perilous position of 159 for 5.
At stumps, Williamson remained unbeaten at 80 and Watling was on 48 not out.
However, Sri Lanka are still favourites to win this game and level the series after losing the first Test in Christchurch by eight wickets.
