The Barnum Hall Theater (Santa Monica, CA)

"Pines of Rome"

New West Symphony’s principal violist Lauren Chipman takes her turn in the solo spotlight for the first time ever, for the world premiere of Mike Garson’s Concerto for Viola, Jazz Trio and Orchestra Based on a Theme by Paganini. Under the baton of founding music director and conductor laureate Boris Brott, the orchestra is also set to perform works by well-known Italian composers like Rossini, with his famed William Tell overture, and Respighi’s Pines of Rome, along with Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio italien, inspired by the Russian composer’s trip to the Eternal City, circa 1880. Santa Monica’s Barnum Hall Theater plays host to the concert.
