This big-screen showing of This Is Spinal Tap takes the cult classic comedy — and turns it up to 11! One of the most quotable (and sing-alongable) comedies of all time, Rob Reiner’s 1984 ode to the ridiculousness of rock ‘n’ roll excess shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts. Regarded as the first ever “mockumentary,” This Is Spinal Tap hilariously tracks the titular band’s ups and downs, from gold albums and radio hits to undersold concert dates and inter-band feuding (and even the loss of an original drummer or three…), along with the requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on, historians and special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all “real.” Watch out for blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em cameos by Dana Carvey, Billy Crystal, Paul Shaffer, Fred Willard, Fran Drescher and many more at this fun screening that’ll also feature a themed food truck parked just outside the Laemmle’s NoHo 7.
