"Lady Sings the Blues" Screening, With Corky Hale in Person

Diana Ross earned an Oscar nomination for her 1972 big-screen debut as Billie Holiday in this loose adaptation of the legendary jazz singer’s autobiography. Watch “Lady Day” rise from the depths as a Harlem brothel worker to Carnegie Hall headliner, and peer into her struggles with racism and drugs. Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor play the angel and the devil, respectively, on her shoulders. See this iconic biopic when the Aero Theatre screens it as the opener to the Jazz on Film series. Jazz great Corky Hale, who performed with Billie Holiday in 1956, introduces the film, and all ticketholders will be eligible to win a Billie Holiday CD courtesy of Sony Legacy Recordings.
