An improvised supernatural horror show, Past Dark pays tribute to cult classics of the 1980s such as Pet Sematary, Poltergeist, and The Thing.

Using the hit Netflix show Stranger Things as a jumping off point, Past Dark doubles back to embrace some of the show’s popular influences. In the vein of kids adventure films such as IT, E.T., and The Goonies, this improvised comedy draws its inspiration from the everyday fears of children (both real and imagined) and translates them into manifested supernatural forms.

Past Dark marks Etan Muskat’s return to the Bad Dog Theatre Company! A veteran of the Montreal and Toronto comedy scenes, Muskat's past directorial work includes Bad Dog favourites Faking Bad and Final Frontier. With Past Dark Muskat maintains his approach of creating unscripted comedies that avoid spoof or satire in favour of genuinely living in the genre:

"The aim is to make a show that will stir up genuine feelings of terror as the forces of dread close in on our child-aged heroes, as well as being funny and exciting. I really want to make the show feel like the audience is seeing the world as children see it: the mystery and fun and fear and wonder that you only really experience when the world is still strange."

Featuring Daniel Beirne (Space Riders), Tricia Black (The Sketchersons), Alastair Forbes (Second City Mainstage), Liz Johnston (The Show Show), Lisa Merchant (Canadian Comedy Award winner), Rakhee Morzaria (Bad Dog Featured Players), Etan Muskat (The Bitter End) and Kris Siddiqi (Second City Mainstage).
