On March 10, 2011 at 19:56 hrs BICKNELL escaped from an escorted temporary absence while returning from Edmonton, AB to Drumheller Institution. BICKNELL overpowered the guard after he faked an illness. The guard was then handcuffed and placed in the back of the vehicle while BICKNELL drove back to Edmonton, AB and retrieved multiple firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun and two bags of ammunition. BICKNELL then drove to a residence in a rural area and stole a vehicle, abandoning the guard and the corrections van, and transferring the firearms to the stolen vehicle. BICKNELL is a first time federal offender serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder.

There have been unconfirmed sightings of BICKNELL in Alberta and British Columbia. To date, BICKNELL remains at large. BICKNELL may be in possession of Correction Services Canada identification.

BICKNELL is currently wanted on outstanding warrant. He is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous.

BICKNELL is believed to be operating the stolen 2009 Grey Chevrolet Impala, LIC #CXE 602 AB .
