Three arrested for the murder of Juan Carlos Dequina, Calgary

The Calgary Police Service has three men in custody in connection with the 2008 homicide of Juan Carlos DEQUINA.

The men were arrested on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Two were arrested at separate locations in Calgary, while the third was arrested in British Columbia by members of the Osoyoos RCMP and the Penticton Regional General Investigation Section. He has since been returned to Calgary.

All three men are facing a charge of first-degree murder in connection with DEQUINA’s death.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., on Dec. 14, 2008, Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service officers on routine patrol discovered 21-year-old DEQUINA deceased inside his black1997 Chevrolet Blazer, which was parked at the intersection of 53 Street and 146 Avenue S.W.

DEQUINA was not known to the CPS prior to his death and he had no ties to criminal activity.

The names of the accused in this case will not be released until they see a Justice of the Peace. This is expected to occur by tomorrow morning. Further details will be released at that time.

Details of an availability with homicide investigators will be sent to the media on Thursday morning. No further comment will be made this evening.
