Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 6000 Sunforest about 11:55 p.m. last Friday (March 18).

James Earl Mason (b/m, DOB: 5-23-66) is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Stephon Sadler, 22, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W.L. Meeler and Officer J.L. French reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the Rancho Verde Apartments at the above address. The officers found Mr. Sadler deceased in the parking lot. Witnesses stated there was an argument between Sadler, a female, and Mason. The argument escalated and Mason shot Sadler numerous times. Mason and the female were then seen fleeing the area on foot.

Further investigation led to the identification of Mason as a suspect in this case. Today (Monday, March 21), Mason was arrested and subsequently confessed to his role in the incident.
