Angui-alou Madit Maluac, the most wanted mastermind of December 2010 clashes between Thiyic and Gony section of Dinka tribe has escaped from Lakes State main correctional prison services.

Angui-alou was arrested for having organised clan sectional clashes. He was also accused of killing in the same clashes.

Despites tight security around Rumbek main correctional prison services, Madit had managed to escape at 1:00pm on Monday as other six inmates tried to escape but were captured by prison guards.

The acting director of Rumbek prison, Lieutenant Colonel Khamis Angui Dhuor said “Anguen-alou Madit has managed to escape after cutting the bathing room window.”

Dhuor explained that the criminal escaped from prison before the security guards could catch him. The rest of the prisoners who attempted to escape failed after the prison warders on the duty opened fire on them after learning of their plan.

Dhuor said that two prison guards on duty, who were involved in facilitating the escape of Angui-alou were arrested. The prison guards included; Mr. Arop Thawat Malual who brought the metal saw for the prisoners and Gai Malual Manyiel who made sure Angui-alou escaped that night.

Dhuor affirmed that “the administration has found out people who were involved in letting the accused escape. Investigations have revealed that Mr. Arop Thawat Malual is the one who bought the metal saw and Gai Malual Manyiel facilitated the escape that night, so all were involved in the plan.”

Dhuor also explained that, Gai Malual Manyeil brought to the accused magic ash from Raja of Western Bahr el Ghazal State and facilitated the communication process to let the prisoner escape.

Mr. Arop Thawat Malual Arop who brought the small metal saw, broke it into two pieces and put it in the jerry-can full of cheese then gave it to Gai Malual Manyiel to take it to the Angui-alou.

Dhuor stressed that the two accomplices in the process must have been bribed by the parents of the accused in planning the prison escape.

He warned that lives of the inmates had been jeopardized since the prison administration will never allow food from outside to be given to the prisoners apart from food prepared in the prison.

“We have enough food in the prison for inmates and allowing food from parents will not be accepted because of has happened.” he stated.

He said that his administration will put up electric fence all over the wall to avoid future prison break incidences.
