EPS Homicide detectives have laid two first-degree murder charges in the death of William Arthur Reid Hill, 57, whose body was discovered in a house near 109 Avenue and 97 Street last week.

Suwastikh Kumar, 30 and Krishnil Visal Mani, 24, have each been charged with first-degree murder. They were identified, arrested and charged within 24-hours of each other.

On Monday, June 27, 2011, police were on the lookout for a stolen 2006 light grey Pontiac G6 when two officers on patrol spotted the vehicle in the area of 109 Street and Jasper Avenue. The vehicle was pulled over by the officers and one of the suspects was identified, arrested, and taken in for questioning. He was charged later that day.

Mani has also been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and obstruction (x2).

Background:

On Thursday night, June 23, 2011 at approximately 8:00 p.m., EPS officers were investigating a report of a suspicious death at a house located at 97 Street and 109 Avenue. Police soon discovered the body of Hill.

Upon completion of the autopsy, manner of death has been identified as homicide.
