Police Investigate Death of Penticton Woman

Earlier this morning, August 16, 2011, Penticton RCMP attended a residence located in the 3300 of South Main Street in Penticton after receiving a report that a woman had been shot and was deceased. Upon their attendance, investigators arrested the woman’s common-law partner without incident at the residence. He remains in custody pending his first court appearance.

The scene has been secured and will be processed by members of the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section. The name of the 55-year-old victim is not being released pending notification of her next of kin. The name of the 56-year-old suspect is not being released pending charge approval.

Members of the Penticton RCMP General Investigation Section are continuing their investigation and no further information is available at this time.
