Man Charged in Calgary Home Invasion

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to a home invasion that occurred in December 2010.

On Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at approximately 6:30 p.m., three men entered a residence in the 600 block of 8 Avenue S.E. Once inside, the culprits violently attacked the victim and beat him with unknown objects, causing injuries that required medical treatment.

After an exhaustive struggle, the victim attempted to escape the residence and was subdued and choked unconscious by the culprits. The victim was bound and the culprits ransacked the residence, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. The culprits fled the residence on foot and got into a red, four-door car.

Sami HASSAN, 28, of Calgary, has been charged with one count each of:
break and enter
assault with a weapon
choking or suffocating
forcible confinement

A second man was charged in May 2011.

The third suspect is described as black, 20 to 25 years old, 6’ to 6’2” tall, with a slim build. He was wearing dark pants and dark winter coat with fur on the hood.

Investigators do not believe this was a random attack.
