Hosting this months The Beautiful & The Damned will be Nik Beat. Nik Beat has spent much time as a fine artist putting together his unique take on pop culture through collage art for the past 13 years. His images and narratives are at once celebrations and critiques of pop culture, which allow his art to be direct, unpretentious, and uninhibited yet posses the tension that is needed to make art come alive. He has exhibited in 15 major art shows in Toronto and Montreal. His last show was at Sound Design located in Torontos artistic haven, The Distillery District which was sponsored by Brian Liss of Liss Art Gallery located at 140 Yorkville. As well Nik is a radio personality at CIUT radio 89.5 FM every Tuesday night at 10 pm with his Howl program of spoken word and music which is also an internet program heard on www.ciut.fm. Nik Beat fronts his own band Tyranny of Love and is a songwriter of consequence on the Canadian scene and is a published author of two books of poetry The Tyranny of Love and Cartoon Rome. He currently lives and is based in his hometown of Toronto with his cat, Little Girl in The Beaches. Our Features: Writer, editor, poet, literary reviewer, horror know-it-all, Lizzie Violet is the dark little girl, with a crooked smile. A lover of all things creepy, including horror silent movies, she is also a well known Zombiephile. Her new monologue MARKS OF ATTENTION – a short piece dealing with oppression and abuse – will be presented by actor / author PETER LYNCH. and our music feature: Kat Leonard is a singer/songwriter/comedian. A dare duel between Madonna and k.d. lang, madcap and profound, Kat is a quirky pop dynamo whose music oscillates unpredictably between heartfelt and hilarious, leaving you with the drunken joy of a sugar rush. Kats debut CD, A Depper Kind Of Love, was released 2011 in conjunction with the one-hour live multimedia live show that played The Toronto Fringe Festival and Love & Obsession Festival.
