A Whitby swim coach has been charged after allegedly touching a young person, associated with the club, in an inappropriate manner.
Last week, investigators from the DRPS Major Crime Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit arrested the 42-year-old male resident of Whitby, after a young victim recently came forward. The offences allegedly occurred between the years 2005-2007. The sex and age of the young person is not being released.
Trent McNicol, age 42, of Whitby has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Exploitation and was held for a bail hearing.
He has been the head swim coach of the Whitby Dolphins Swim Club. Due to his position of trust and authority, investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
