Fine for ABN AMRO for violating bonus ban

Share this articleABN Amro has been fined because it gave employees bonuses. That was not allowed, because the bank receives state aid. The state still has around 30 percent of the shares in the hands.

De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) shares a fine of 15 million euros out. These are bonuses that ABN AMRO gave to employees just under the board of directors.

From 2012, a bonus ban applied to the board of directors. From 2015 the ban was extended to functions in the layer below.

ABN AMRO says it acknowledges that it has not applied the rules on bonuses properly. The bank also says it is aware of the possible social impact of providing bonuses as a bank that receives state aid.
