This saucy comedy takes an academic term for cause-and-effect — the boomerang effect — and applies it to romantic relationships. Leavitt peeks into the bedrooms of five couples, uncovering a chain of well-intentioned and hilarious disasters. Matthew Leavitt was a semifinalist in Stephen Sondheim’s Young Playwrights Festival National Playwriting Competition, with his first work called Losers and Fools. The Boomerang Effect marks his return to playwriting after focusing on adapting Shakespeare’s comedies.
