Royce Hall at UCLA (Los Angeles, CA)
Three-time Grammy Award-winning sextet eighth blackbird combines the finesse of a string quartet with the energy of a rock band while blurring the boundaries between music and theater. Closing out CAP UCLA’s Tune-In Festival, the impressive ensemble will perform music from indie rock musicians Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner of The National and Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, as well as modern composers Tristan Perich, Tom Johnson and György Ligeti. Other festival musicians will join eighth blackbird to end the concert with a performance of Louis Andriessen’s Worker’s Union, a piece “for any loud sounding group of instruments.”
