A 94 year old Vancouver woman is the second senior this week to become the victim of a violent thief. A Good Samaritan is being credited for assisting in the incident.

Around 12:30 p.m. November 12th, the elderly woman was pushed to the ground and robbed as she walked through the 600 block of Prior Street. As she lay on the sidewalk the thief rifled through her clothing, searching for money and valuables.

An alert citizen driving by saw what was happening but before she could stop, the thief suddenly bolted. Thinking quickly, the Good Samaritan followed at a distance in her car while relaying suspect information to 9-1-1. The suspect continued running and eventually disappeared between the houses in the neighbourhood. The woman returned to offer assistance to the elderly victim. Police flooded the area and deployed a K9 unit however the suspect was not found.

A neighbourhood canvass for witnesses and video surveillance has been conducted and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect is described as dark skinned, 5`10" with short brown hair. He may have been wearing a green jacket and white toque.

The victim suffered some bruising to her arm during the robbery. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.
