A well shared and widely watched video shows several teens involved in bullying as a Brampton teenage girl is punched, slapped and threatened by another teen girl. Different versions of the video, ranging from 1:49 to three minutes, have been posted on various Internet sites but were taken down from YouTube on the weekend.
Peel Regional Police announced in a statement on Monday that two teenage girls and one teen boy, all 17 years old, have been charged with robbery in connection with the incident. The incident was recorded on Oct. 24, somewhere inside a north Brampton plaza. Police revealed that it was contacted by the bullied girl’s school authorities, who were informed by the girl herself. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the three accused were charged on Oct. 29. The widely shared video appears to show the girl saying “stop, stop” while she is punched in the stomach and arm, and slapped across the face. Additionally, the girl bullying says that “you say anything to anybody about us doing this, we’re going to have a problem,” adding that “it’ll be a lot worse if you say anything.”
At one point, it appears one girl is standing behind the victim holding her arms at her sides while another punches her in the stomach. Meanwhile, a voice off-camera says that “I don’t trust her.” Apart from school officials, Twitter users also alerted police about the video on Monday morning, calling for action. One user said that “something needs to be done about this. Bullying has to stop, spread awareness.”
