Kimberley Fernandes
Desired look: Giving a punk effect and a bouffant vibe to her trendy pixie bob that was beginning to grow out
1 Wash hair and use a light conditioner
2 Apply a serum to the hair to protect it against the heat of the blow dryer.
3 Using a wide-toothed comb, separate the knots while the hair is still wet.
4 Using a round brush, wrap a lock of hair around the brush from the roots to the head.
5 For volume, direct the blow dryer under the roots as you gently pull the hair upwards.
6 Now unroll the hair aiming the blow dryer over each section carefully so that you get the flipped out effect.
7 To maintain the look, apply a little gel or hair wax at the ends.
Tania Chisel
The desired look: loose face-framing curls that would suit her thick wavy hair.
1 After a shampoo and conditioner, blow dry the back section by flipping all your hair in front.
2 Direct the dryer at the roots to give yourself volume while running your fingers through the hair to separate the knots.
3 Section out the front of your hair into four parts and use a blower until almost dry.
4 Gently wrap each section of the hair around the curling iron and hold for about 15 seconds or less
5 As you unwrap the hair, it will fall in curls around your face.
6 Put some styling mousse into your palms and gently crunch the curls so that the mousse works itself into the hair.
7 You can finish it off with some hairspray.
Cantyle D’Abreo
Desired look: Volumising her rapunzel-like locks, giving her a side braid while curling the ends.
1 Start off with a shampoo and conditioner.
2 Apply a protective serum to ensure that the hair doesn’t get too damaged from the heat of the blow dryer.
3 Using a round brush, roll the hair up and hold the blow dryer against it for a while.
4 When it’s almost dry, gently unwrap the brush in a downward motion so that the hair falls into soft curls
5 Using your fingers, separate the ends- but be gentle or you will ruin the effect
6 With the tip of a fine-toothed comb, separate one section of the hair and work it into a French braid till you reach the back of the head.
7 Secure the end of the braid with a black rubber band or a butterfly clip
8 Maintain the look with a hairspray, but to avoid that stiff feeling, make sure you hold that canister at an arm’s distance from the head.
Style tips
* Chapiseau insists that all city dwellers use a repairing hair masque at least once a week to rejuvenate the hair. The deep conditioning treatment helps restore the moisture and shine that pollution and UV rays strip from the hair.
* Tell your stylist which facial features you want to highlight so that the haircut can be styled accordingly. If you have a large forehead, side- swept bangs might help reduce it. If you have a round face, a short bob that cuts rough at the cheeks will only enhance it.
