Hailed as “one of the world’s greatest singers” by the Los Angeles Times, Youssou N’Dour is best known in the US for this his stirring vocals on Peter Gabriel’s 1986 ballad “In Your Eyes.” In his native Senegal, however, he’s regarded as a national treasure. Dubbed “one of the most beloved artists in the entire continent of Africa” by Rolling Stone, he’s served as the country’s culture minister and he even made a run for the presidential seat in 2012. N’Dour’s signature Grammy-winning sound blends traditional Senegalese mbalax dance rhythms with hip-hop, jazz and Latin beats. The internationally-celebrated singer, composer and percussionist has performed with the likes of Paul Simon, Tracy Chapman and Sting and has been the subject of two music-minded documentaries. He brings four decades’ worth of musical expertise and globe-trotting experiences to the stage at Walt Disney Hall.
