Members of the District 9 RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a 20-year-old woman.

On Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at around 2:15 p.m., the woman was sitting on the beach located off the Miller Road, in Dalhousie, N.B. As she returned to her car in the parking lot, a man grabbed her from behind and tried to force her into another nearby car. The woman was able to free herself and get away.

The suspect is described as being approximately 40 years old, tall and extremely skinny, to the point of appearing emaciated. He is described as Caucasian with a tan, has brown hair and a moustache. He spoke in English.

The man left in a dark red or burgundy, four-door sedan, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am. The car is likely from a model year in the early 2000’s.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or the suspect and vehicle in question.

RCMP are also looking to speak with a man and a woman who were walking two small dogs on the beach just prior to the incident, as they may have important information that could help police. The couple was traveling in a blue car.
