Terror of the railway station blast in Lahore continues

The bomb blast which took place in the luxury compartment of Lahore railway station on Tuesday continues to terrorize the people of the city as two brothers of the same family lose their fight against life on Wednesday with 12 other family members still hospitalized and injured.

Government had announced 3 dead and about 35 individuals injured as a result of the blast which killed up to 4 when another child of seven years lost life on Wednesday morning despite rigorous efforts made by the doctors to save him.

According to the police authorities the blast which took place two days ago had about 5 kilograms of explosives used in it and was launched into the compartments of one of the luxury lounges of the train connecting two of the largest cities of Pakistan, Lahore and Karachi. The blast hit the station a little after 6:45pm with bomb disposal staff and emergency teams reaching the crime scene in no time and transferring the injured to the Mayo hospital.

President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident. Chief of Lahore police Asif Tareen spoke to the media and said, “It was an act of terrorism and we are investigating how the terrorist came inside the railway station.”
