Eddies Hopes Home Field is an Advantage

FC Edmonton’s first trip to the Lone Star State wasn’t as successful as they had hoped but the Eddies get another kick at the ball on Sunday when the San Antonio Scorpions visit the Great White North for the first time in franchise history (K.O @ 2 p.m.).

Last Saturday, the Scorpions handed the Eddies their fourth loss of the season. While they were able to keep dangerous striker Pablo Campos off the score sheet, they weren’t able to keep defenders Ryan Cochrane and Jonathan Greenfield from scoring a 2-0 victory for the NASL newcomers.

“Campos was dangerous despite not scoring,” said FC Edmonton centre back Paul Hamilton. “He’s a big, physical attacker and he causes problems for any defense in the league but we can’t focus solely on him. The Scorpions have a good team and we have to be ready for them.”

FC Edmonton has a number of injuries leading into the Sunday afternoon tilt. Head coach Harry Sinkgraven will have to juggle the line up a little and as usual, the Dutchman will have a choice to make between the posts.

FC Edmonton has started three separate goalkeepers so far this season and Lance Parker looks like he’s ready to play after last season’s horrific break.

Whoever starts on Sunday will have the important task of earning the Eddies another three points to get them back into the league race and within striking distance of the third place Scorpions.

A quarter of the way through the season and the Eddies find themselves in sixth place with seven points in seven games.
