A 50 year old Vancouver man who was stabbed in Oppenheimer Park on the morning of June 1st has now died.
Gerald David Haakmat succumbed to his injuries in hospital last night.
The Vancouver Police Major Crime Homicide Section is handling the investigation. No arrests have been made.
Mr. Haakmat had been found lying in the middle of the park suffering from a stab wound in the early morning hours of June 1st. He was rushed to hospital where two days later he succumbed to his injuries.
This is Vancouver’s 5th homicide of 2011. There were nine homicides in all of 2010 and 18 in 2009.
