The Sorauren Park refurbishment, funded by the MLSE Team Up Foundation, Toronto FC’s Corporate Partner Kia Canada Inc. and Toronto’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation department, saw more than $50,000 invested in significant upgrades and improvements to Sorauren Park, including the installation of new turf to key portions of the pitches, new player benches with awnings and spectator benches, a new concrete storage shed and a maintenance plan.
The refurbishment represents the sixth sports facility this year to benefit from the MLSE Team Up Foundation’s hockey rink, basketball court and soccer pitch legacy program.
"We’re thrilled to make a difference for the kids and families that will use this pitch and contribute to the strengthening of community engagement and belonging through sports," said Michael Bartlett, Executive Director, MLSE Team Up Foundation. "This pitch provides youth and their families with a place to gather, play and connect. Through our legacy program we’re trying to ensure that communities like this one have those facilities."
Toronto FC’s "Community Hero" initiative will look to recognize some of the countless individuals who give their time and knowledge to make our community a better place to live and play. Starting August 9, Toronto FC will highlight one individual a month recognizing all they do to make their community a better place. If you would like to nominate someone for future consideration please email community@torontofc.ca and tell us why they are your Community Hero.
