The Barclays Singapore Open Championship had started on Thursday November 8th 2012 at the Serapong Golf Course, Sentosa Golf Resort, Sentosa Island, Singapore. The tournament will be ending on Sunday November 11, 2012.
The Barclays Singapore Open has been an Asian Tour event since the tours initiation in 1995. Due to a lack of finances, there was no event between year 2002 and 2004 but it came back to the Asian Tour in 2005 as its biggest non co-sanctioned event with a prize subsidize of $2 million dollars. Since 2009 it’s been co-endorsed with the European Tour and this year it has a prize sponsor of $6 million, with the winner will about to get $1 million as a reward.
The European Tour remnants in Asia this week for the Barclays Singapore Open. A well-built sports ground has brought together, plus World Number 1 Rory McIlroy and a host of other star names.Since 2009 the tournament has been won by: Ian Poulter, Adam Scott and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.
Scott has a great record in this tournament. The Australian won twice when the event was solely on the Asian Tour, and then acquired the title again in 2010 after the competition had become co-sanctioned by European Tour.
Previous year Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano of Spain captured the victory after a final round against Juvic Pagunsan of the Phillipines. Rory McIlroy will start thetournament as favorite and he will face firm competition from the top players i.e. Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and Padraig Harrington.
