RCMP officers from the Lamèque Detachment arrested Benoit LeBouthillier on the morning of November 23, 2012 in a residence in Cap-Bateau.  He was arrested without incident and taken into police custody.

Benoit LeBouthillier, a 34-year-old man from Bas-Caraquet, is accused of assault causing bodily harm on a two-year-old boy and making death threats against the child’s mother. The incidents occurred on two occasions, once on July 31, 2011 and once on August 31, 2011 in the Belledune area.

He appeared in Provincial Court on September 1, 2011 and entered a plea of not guilty. A trial date was scheduled for January 3, 2012 but he failed to appear in court to stand trial which resulted in the Provincial Court issuing a warrant for his arrest.
