53-year-old Julie Paskall of Surrey, who was viciously attacked in a parking lot outside the Newton Arena on Sunday night, gave up to her injuries in the late morning of Tuesday, December 31. Explaining the investigation into the incident by the authorities so far, Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of IHIT mentioned that “the motive for this unprovoked attack remains robbery with both IHIT and the Surrey RCMP continuing to work toward finding out who is responsible.”
In addition to that, the RCMP issued a public warning to residents soon after Sunday’s incident. According to the details of the incident, 53-year-old Surrey resident was waiting in the parking lot outside the Newton Arena to pick up her son from hockey. She was found unconscious at around 9:30 p.m. PT on Sunday. Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet mentioned in the statement that “due to the circumstances of this tragic incident, we are asking the public to be extra vigilant.” He added that “it is important that people are aware of their surroundings when they are out and that they keep their valuables concealed. Walk with a friend whenever possible, particularly after dark.”
Soon after the report of an unconscious female in the parking lot outside the Newton Arena at7120 136b Street in Surrey, BC Ambulance, Surrey Fire Department and the Surrey RCMP attended the crime scene. Early investigations found that the female had suffered a serious attack and suffered serious injuries and is not expected to survive. The investigation was taken over by IHIT on Monday.
