Addressing reporters outside City Hall on Tuesday, Councillor Doug Ford hinted that his brother and incumbent Mayor, Rob Ford, plans to stay in the mayoral race after his returns from addiction treatment. The councillor, mayor’s brother and his campaign manager also added that the mayor is anticipated to return from rehab within “the next four or five weeks,” while quickly adding that “I’m not really sure.”

After summing up a meeting of the City’s Executive Committee, Councillor Ford admitted to have seen his brother recently. He alleged that “he looks like a champion” and announced jubilantly “make no mistake, if there’s one thing I learned about Rob Ford, [it’s] never count Rob Ford out of a race. It shocks me, it does as his brother. He’s helped tens of thousands of people over the years. And he’s going to continue moving this city forward.” After being highly scandalized for his use of crack and alcohol, Mayor Ford, recently decided to seek treatment and signed up at GreeneStone, i.e. a private residential addiction treatment centre in Ontario’s Muskoka region.

The mayor’s iconic black Cadillac Escalade was recently spotted when the local woman driving it was arrested and charged for driving under in the influence. Doug Ford says that he has not discussed the incident with his brother, adding that “I didn’t get into it. I stayed positive… he’s in a positive mind right now. But he’s looking great, sounds great. Just wait until he gets back.”
