The former assistant of BJP leader LK Advani, Kulkarni is sent to the Tihar Central Jail in the judicial custody. Sudheendra Kulkarni appeared in the court for the cash-for-vote case on Tuesday. The court rejected Kulkarni’s interim bail appeal and ordered for jail.
This was the maiden appearance of Kulkarni in the court after July 2008’s cash for vote scam.
Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, the Special judge rejected Kulkarni’s appeal for interim bail and related stories.
“My role in the entire matter was that of a whistle-blower. Along with my associates, three BJP MPs and Suhail Hindustani, I attempted to expose the purchase of MPs for securing victory in the confidence vote by the then government in the Lok Sabha.” Kulkarni talked to the media before the hearing.
The Delhi Police charged that Kulkarni was “masterminded” and planned the conspiracy to bribe three MPs of BJP. They told that “R1 crore each to vote for the UPA-1 government” was planned, in 22nd July 2008, during a confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.
BJP in defense of Kulkarni asks “why beneficiaries not quizzed interim bail,” it also said that it was “devoid of merit”.
The court will hear Kulkarni’s bail appeal on Saturday.
