Amitabh Bachchan calls the shots for RGVs Department

Right through the making of Department, there were speculations around the length of Amitabh Bachchan’s role in the film. While some said that it was a mere cameo, others vouched for the fact that he had a full fledged role in the film. However, now that the film’s promotion has kick-started, all doubts have been cleared as it is crystal clear that Amitabh Bachchan is pretty much calling the shots and leading from the front along with Sanjay Dutt who is the other key protagonist in the film.

"Though it was being whispered that Sanjay Dutt is the central lead in Ram Gopal Varma’s Department and Big B isn’t really enjoying a ‘big’ role, it is far from being true. Both are extremely integral to the film and share a good screen space. In fact Ramu has ensured that the parts played by them are as crowd friendly as it gets and given them dialogues that are bound to bring in whistles and claps in theatres."

Last year after Ramu made some controversial remarks pertaining to Big B after the release of Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, a few even wondered whether the actor would be as enthusiastic about Department as before. Though Ramu’s comments were termed as a back handed compliment, there was widespread rage against them. However, Sr. Bachchan’s towering presence in Department is now shutting up detractors as it is clear that the iconic actor is truly having fun in the film.

"Bachchan saab has enjoyed doing the film like never before. In fact he always has when it comes to Ramu. They have erred in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and faced backlash with Nishabd. However Rann, Sarkar Raj and Sarkar and the reiteration of the fact that together they are capable of igniting fireworks. That is now all set to happen again in Department as well where Ramu has made Bachchan saab’s part so enjoyable that it would bring in a new fan base for the legendary actor", informs a senior crew member.

Not just that as insiders who have had a dekko at portions of the film also vouch for the fact that Amitabh Bachchan’s part in the film is so strong that it could well have been titled Clash of the Titans, what with Sanjay Dutt arriving with great force as well. For the two actors, whose most notable face/off in last few years stays on to be Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007), it may well be an opportunity to bring on some ‘dum’ on screen all over again.
