Congress announced its decision on Tuesday to suspend eight of its parliament members for the next four days over the Telangana issue.

All the suspended ministers of the parliament belong to the region of Andhra Pradesh. The decision was made at the group meeting of the party with only the senior leadership including the chairperson Sonia Gandhi after the session of Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day since the MPs were raising slogans and waving placards during the session. The suspended MPs demanded that the state of Telangana should be created by dividing the region of Andhra Pradesh into two.

The announcement in the Lok Sabha was made by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pawan Kumar Bansal who explained that the named individuals will not be allowed to sit through the session of Lok Sabha for the next four days. However, the named ministers are protesting in the Lok Sabha and have refused to leave the building. The suspended MPs include Balram Naik, Ponnam Prabhakar, M Jagannath, G Viveknanda, S Rajaiah, KRG Reddy, Sukender Reddy Gutha, and Madhu Yaskhi Goud.

Home Minister Chidambaram, Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders have requested the ministers to not create havoc over the creation of a new state in the parliament and allow the sessions to run peacefully.
