Hundreds of thousands of women are dying during pregnancy and childbirth because they do not have access to medical care.
AMREF offices around the world have launched a campaign for improved maternal health in Africa, to put an end to the suffering afflicting mothers, babies and communities across the continent.
Their mission is simple. Train midwives to provide urgently needed medical care to woman during pregnancy, delivery and beyond.
With a trained midwife in her community, a pregnant woman will have access to a skilled birth attendant, HIV treatment that can reduce the chance of transmission to their newborn, family planning advice and immunizations to keep her baby healthy. For many rural and isolated communities, a community midwife can mean the difference between life and death.
This Mother’s Day, Amref is asking you to make a small contribution of $20 to their training midwives campaign. Help them ensure African children never have to know what it's like to grow up without a mother.
Please donate today via our secure website or call 416-961-6981 or toll free 1-888-318-4442.
