USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi has Mahesh Bhatt to thank for his timely intervention in helping her and her crew get back safely from Bhopal to Mumbai after a traumatic experience.
Lajmi had gone to Bhopal with her crew to shoot for her film Kaanch. However, things took an ugly turn when the producer was unable to pay for the shooting and the 120 member crew was held hostage in 4 different hotels until their bills were cleared. When Lajmi asked the producer to pay off his dues and set them free, he sent goons to threaten her and other crew members.
It was then that Mahesh Bhatt came to rescue as he called the Chief Minister's office, the Principal Secretary and the District Magistrate and explained the situation. If not for Bhatt saab, the crew of Kaanch would have still been stuck in Bhopal.
Lajmi is grateful to Bhatt for helping her out and has now decided to buy the film off the unscrupulous producer. Kaanch starring Ila Arun, Veena Malik and Avika Gor deals with a village where women are forced into prostitution.
