Ford Amphitheatre (Hollywood, CA)
Enjoy an exciting night of classic funk music under the stars as the Ford Amphitheatre hosts Mandrill, as well as Lowrider Band. Founded in Brooklyn in 1968 by the Wilson Brothers, Carlos, Lou and Ric, Mandrill was one of the East Coast’s top funk bands, known for their Latin and R&B influences. Their biggest hits include 1973’s “Fencewalk,” from their top-ten album Composite Truth. They’ve played Carnegie Hall, the Apollo and Madison Square Garden, and performed alongside such legends as Miles Davis, Tito Puente, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Eagles, Deep Purple and David Bowie. They’re joined by Los Angeles’ own Lowrider Band, featuring Howard Scott, Harold Brown, Lee Oskar and B.B. Dickerson — four of the original band members behind such classic hits as “Lowrider,” “Spill the Wine,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and many more.
