A recent hit at the Hollywood Bowl, The Big Easy’s own Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue are touring behind their new disc, For True. It’s the follow-up to their debut 2010 release Backatown, which introduced their signature “supafunkrock” sound to the world and was nominated for a Grammy in the process. In between, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews hit all the major late-night shows, including Leno and Letterman, and stars in a recurring role on the hit HBO series Tremé. Meanwhile, this Sixth Ward-native and his backing band have brought their genre-bending sound to Bonnaroo; the Montreal, Montreux and Monterey jazz fests; Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco; Austin City Limits; Fuji Rock in Japan; assorted blues festivals and even a reggae festival in Germany.
