The sudden, shocking, heart wrenching and saddening demise of Rituparno Ghosh yesterday stunned the entire industry. While actors across cinema languages and genres have been expressing their condolences, megastar Amitabh Bachchan who worked with the director in The Last Lear expressed his dismay and regret at Ghosh's demise.
Posting on his Facebook page, Bachchan said, "We grieve in shock today at the very sudden passing away of that remarkable director from Bengal, a brilliant mind, an artist of great eminence, Rituparno Ghosh ..I worked with him in "The Last Lear", a film he made in English. He is perhaps the only director to have worked with all members of our family -Jaya, Abhishek, Aishwarya and me .. a very sad day !!"
While on his blog talking about his recent conversation with Ghosh, Bachchan posted, "I had wished him on his birthday some months back. He had wished Jaya on hers last month and they spoke of doing a film together, as did he with me too some weeks ago, of a story he was constructing for us to work together in."
