On Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 5:43 p.m., police respond to a hospital for the death of a 26-month-old boy.
It is alleged that the child exhibited signs of physical trauma and, as a result, police were called.
The victim has been identified as 26-month-old Nicholas Cruz, of Toronto.
The post-mortem examination is ongoing.
Marleny Cruz, 25, of Toronto, and Joel France, 36, of Toronto, have both been charged with Second-Degree Murder.
Joel France is additionally charged with Assault.
The victim and the accused lived in the Walnut Street and Richmond Street West area.
