Confirming the same, Mamata Banerjee posted about it on her Facebook as she wrote, "In our State, five Rajya Sabha Members will be elected this time. One of these seats will be given to Shri Mithun Chakraborty from All India Trinamool Congress. Shri Chakraborty is a well-known film personality. He has devoted his life to the cause of cultural and social activities with great success. He is an asset not only of West Bengal, but also of the entire country. We are proud to nominate him."
The actor who is equally excited about the nomination revealed that though he is very happy to accept this honour, but for him, acting will always remain a first priority.
Currently, Mithun is judging the popular reality show 'Dance India Dance' on Zee TV.
