An Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Team investigation has resulted in five people being charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance.

Inspector Greg Preston will be available today at 1 p.m. in the EPS headquarters atrium to discuss the file.

In mid-July, EPS officers were notified after Edmonton Remand Centre staff intercepted a package containing a variety of drugs including meth and prescription drugs mailed to an inmate. EDGE officers began the investigation and have now laid charges against four males and one female; three of the males were in custody at the time the conspiracy to traffic is alleged to have occurred.

The following individuals have been charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance:

Meagan Jane Gargas, 48
Rudy Jay McCoy, 37 (in custody when charges were laid)
Darcy Nicholas Payne, 36
Sean Luther Reaugh, 31 (in custody when charges were laid)
Kenneth Dwayne Richards, 28 (in custody when charges were laid)
