A WestJet customer and an Edmonton photographer, Nicole Ashley Squires, complained on twitter after finding some unwanted material in her baggage. Squires revealed to have packed light for a quick vacation as she only put in a few hats, T-shirts and jeans into her suitcase before checking it at the airport. However, Squires explained that when she picked up her bag after landing in Kelowna, B.C., it had some extra weight.

According to Squires, she found that her luggage also contained a man’s outfit and five cans of Coors Light beer tucked into her suitcase. He stated that “I saw a man’s outfit, jeans, one shoe, slippers, and five Coors Light.” Consequently, Squires took a photo and tweeted the image to the airline. She expressed her concern that if it was not a domestic flight, the mix-up could have landed her in trouble with border agents or airport security.

However, WestJet spokesperson Robert Palmer said the remark was probably meant as a joke. In response to that, Squires replied that “(the tweet) was pretty inappropriate” and “I didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry about their response.” Later on, Palmer stressed that “we’ll certainly apologize to her.” He confessed that the mix-up was an honest mistake. Palmer explained that “the baggage staff noticed that a bag was open, and right next to that bag was some clothing and some cans of beer,” adding that the “baggage staff decided to put the items in the bag … It was open.”
