A best-selling novel and critically acclaimed movie, the theatrical adaptation of The Bridges of Madison County comes to the Ahmanson Theatre stage after a successful run on Broadway. The musical tells the life-changing story of a bored Iowa housewife swept off her feet by a travelling National Geographic photographer. Elizabeth Stanley (On the Town) plays Francesca Johnson and Andrew Samonsky (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) plays Robert Kincaid, who meet in a chance encounter and get pulled into a whirlwind of romance and desire. The production features a team of accomplished Broadway talents with music and lyrics by three-time Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, book by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Marsha Norman (‘night, Mother) and Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific).
