Blind Boys of Alabama: Soul-Gospel Legends
Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA)
Melding classic gospel with authentic soul and blues, The Blind Boys of Alabama are six-time Grammy winners — including a Lifetime Achievement Award — who’ve been performing as a group for more than 70 years, led by original member Jimmy Carter. They released their first album, I Can See Everybody’s Mother But Mine in 1948, and their latest, a Christmas disc with Taj Mahal, in 2014, with some 60-odd discs in between. Still actively touring — and bringing down the house with their power and passion — the storied ensemble has performed at the White House under three different administrations, appeared on all the network morning and late-night shows, and have collaborated with a who’s who of great musicians, including Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Bonnie Raitt, Ben Harper, Mavis Staples, Willie Nelson and many more. Don’t miss their latest show at Pepperdine University’s Smothers Theatre in Malibu. Learn more…
