The Tropical Storm Lee has commenced to create more chaos and difficulties for the American citizen’s situation along the North East. Today alone, 100,000 people were ordered to flee from New York till Maryland as the influx of rain had raised the level of water in Susquehanna River beyond critical. The communication system suffered greatly as major highways were blocked.

More than 8 inches of rain fell in areas of New York as the rain broke the river at Binghamton, allowing it to flow. The roads were completely jammed and no outsider was allowed to enter. Emergency responders were seen working vigilantly by evacuating citizens who had not left the neighborhood earlier.

Time for evacuation was announced as 4 p.m. On Wednesday along 20,000 people in Binghamton, 70,000 in Wikes-Barre and Kingston and 170 homes of Harrisburg were urged to vacate their houses before the flooding got worse.

The routes that have been blocked due to flooding include New York’s Thruway Authority’s Interstate 90 and In Philadelphia the eastbound lanes of Schuylkill Expressway.

According to the National Weather Service, the situation is bound to get worse. More rain is expected that will lead to a rise of 4-10 inches of rain. The after effects of Hurricane Irene have added to the chaos as the soil is still damp across the Northeast, leaving the rain water with no place to go. Warnings and flood watches have been in effect across the North East.
