There appeared chaos in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly as the debate was going on regarding the “clemency plea” of Afzal Guru. The debate had to be postponed twice for certain reasons.

On Wednesday, the debate had to stop first for 30 minutes and then for a complete hour. This followed the disturbance created by the Congress and the BJP leaders.

MLAs of Congress objected to the presence of the seven BJP MLAs who were suspended earlier. This objection created clashes between the Congress and BJP MLAs.

The Congress MLAs insisted that “they leave the House.”

“I have full faith in the judicial system of the country. I have full faith in the Supreme Court, I have faith in our Constitution and the system but we have to see consequences of such decisions. For God’s sake, please see other dimensions if Afzal is hanged.” The Independent MLA said.

On 13th December 2001, Afzal Guru was convicted for plotting an attack on the Parliament.

Parliament House in the Winter Session was attacked by five terrorists who killed seven security personnel.

Afzal was found guilty and the session court sentenced him to death in 2002.
