Prakash Jha seeks damages for Aarakshans ban

USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Prakash Jha's film Aarakshan created quite a furor when it released last year. However, the film was banned in various states including Punjab; post which, Jha had approached the Supreme Court claiming damages due to the banning and non-release of the film.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Punjab government on Jha's plea seeking symbolic damages from the state government for causing loss to him by banning his film Aarakshan.

Though Jha did not quantify the damages, he stated that more than the remuneration, it was a matter of principle and that the case was filed as a protest to the state government's decision to ban the film.

The political thriller which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Prateik and Deepika Padukone released on August 12, 2011.
